Relationship of Prospective Teachers' Beliefs about Mathematics, Teaching and Teaching Practice

Abstract


This study were conducted investigate the relationship of prospective teachers beliefs about mathematics, teaching and teaching practice of mathematics. Data collection of 20 prospective teachers showed that 5% of prospective teachers consistently carry out teaching practice activities in accordance with constructivist beliefs about mathematics and teaching, 10% of prospective teachers consistently carry out teaching practice activities in accordance with platonic beliefs about mathematics and teaching. The rest are inconsistently in implement activities according to his own teaching practices. The rest were not consistently between beliefs with teaching practices are implemented. This study suggests the formation of mathematical beliefs will bring mathematics prospective teachers into positive and effective teaching practices.
