Abstract


Abstract. This study aims to determine the form of representation of high school students in solving physics problems. The study involved 35 high school students in Bandar Lampung. Methods of data collection using paper and pencil test. The test form is essay consisting of 5 questions. The data were analyzed descriptively that analyzed each item to see the form of representation used in problem solving. The results showed that there were 100% of students using symbolic representation in  problems solving of physics. Students tend to apply formulas to solve  problems without beginning with a verbal representation or picture. In terms of verbal or picture representation it is very good to describe the problem variables, so the difficult problem becomes easily solved. Students' ability to solve physics problems is categorized as low.
