The Development of Talent Identification Indicators for Swim

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to find the test indicator to identify the swimming  talented athletes from swimming and anthropometry skills factors. This type of research is quantitative research with development approach. Sample amounted to 142 people, aged 9-12 years from Club Swimming Gresik, Surabaya, and Sidoarjo. Phase-I (theoretical study) gets 14 variables: 25m freestyle swim, 50m freestyle swim, 100m freestyle swim, 200m freestyle swim, freestyle swimming, 400m freestyle, height, weight, arm span, Leg length, feet length, feet width, width of palms, width of hips, and shoulder width. Further validation by an expert reduced fat thickness. Phase II was tested on a sample of 44 people, analyzed the loading factor, the result reduced 400 meter freestyle swim and shoulder width. Phase-III was tested on samples larger than 98 people, analyzed loading factor, the result reduced hip width. Conclusion that 11 variables: 25m freestyle swim, 50m freestyle swim, 100m freestyle swim, 200m freestyle swim, height, arm span, leg length, weight, foot width, palm width and leg length can be used test indicator to recognize the talented swimming athlete’s.
