Abstract


This research aimed to describe the level of teacher awareness as an educator about the important of writing activity in learning mathematics and to find the solution. There were two aspect that used, teacher knowledge about the important of writing activities in learning mathematics and the learning process. The result addressed to all educators as a consideration to make an innovation in learning mathematics. Data collected by doing an observation, interview, and analysing the lesson plan. This research showed that teacher was not completely aware the benefit of writing activity in learning mathematics yet. It made student did not trained to described their steps in solving problem and only focused on what kind of formula that can their used in solving problem. The teacher had to realize that writing activity in learning mathematics was important and gad a lot of benefit for student understanding in mathematics. With all kind of learning method and in any kind of topics, teacher should have to make an innovation that direct the student to writing because there was many kind of activity that can be done to make student wonted to writing.
