Abstract

Abstract: Academic role-playing is one of the more effective active learning instructional strategies. The research aimed to developed instructuctional materials (syllabus, lesson plans, student worksheets, student’s matery, and mastery concept of student)  based on academic role-playing model with flash animation by using 4D development model. The objective of this research was to try learning materials  in junior high school’s students with Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Data were analysed by using descriptive quantitative-qualitative methods. The results are: (a) validity of learning material was very valid category; (b) feasibility of instruction is good and very good category; (c) the responses of students are positive; and (d) mastery concept was improved. The conclution of this research was that science learning material developed through academic role-playing model with flash animation was eligible to improve mastery concept of junior high school student. The improvement of mastery concept of student could be identified through the mean of  N-Gain 0.75 on class VIIIA and N-Gain 0.76 on class VIIIB with high category.
