The Development of Biology Monopoly Game Media to Support Junior School Students’ Learning Outcome and Social Ability

Abstract


Teaching and learning process in the classroom can make students' learning situation very boring. It doesn’t involve emotion, the brain nerve activities will be reduced to store in students’ memory. Teachers need to bring joy and fun in students' learning process through interesting games. We describe the findings students’ learning outcomes and social ability from the developmental research of biology monopoly game media based on the Four D-Model methods of learning games (until development stage). We created and developed a set of biology monopoly game media and tested it to junior high school students (n = 24). The findings showed that media can support students' learning activity which is based on the correct understand students’ learning outcomes of the material structure and function body plant; the excellent enthusiastic aspects; very well competition aspects and cooperation aspects; quite good in discipline aspects. Based on the study of this media game feasibility is considered very feasible and students’ responses are very good when learning biology in the classroom. These result indicated that biology monopoly game media can be an effective game media to support junior school students’ learning outcomes and social ability.
