Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop physics learning material using Guided Inquiry decent oriented to problem solving skills of content in SMA/MA. The materials was developed using the modified 4D model of the design testing one group pretest-posttest design. This research was trial to 10 of senior high school’s students of class XI academic year 2016/2017. The data collection used observation method, test, and questionnaires. The data analysis techniques used descriptive analysis of quantitative, qualitative and statistic non parametric. The results of this research are  Teaching material developed has a valid category, practicality of teaching material in terms of a good category in feasibility of lesson plans and the students activities in accordance with steps of direct instruction using concept map strategy, and teaching material effectiveness in terms of improving understanding of concept and critical thinking ability of student by getting the n-gain score from students and  the result of nonparametric analysis, students’ responds toward material and implementation of teaching are very positive.
