Self determination (SDT) is the ability of self in identifying and achieving the objectives based on knowledge and the assessment of the individual on itself. If the student then associated with the SDT is the ability of the student in achieving his goal as student achievement in academic, personal, social and career. The ability of the SDT  need to be owned by students because in SDT that is. autonomy, competence and relatedness that must exist within the student that will affect the success of students in the future. This research aims to analyze SDT students in the town of Tangerang. Researchers gave the SDT questionnaire to 60 students. The results of this study showed that female students have a better capability in each indicator SDT  i.e. autonomous capability ability of competence and ability of the relatedness. In General both the male students as well as women have the capability of a SDT still low that is below 70%. This resulted terrhadap the learning process and the quality of students.
