Abstract

This purpose of this research is to describe the students thinking process in solving the problem of linear equations one variable to the personality type. The researcher uses the step of Polya problems solving.

This research is using a descriptive methode with qualitative approach. Subjects consisted of two students that are a student with extrovert personality type  and that are a student with introvert personality type on the analysis of questionnaires MBTI and Quiet Quiz. The technique of data collection is the interviews based on assigment. The analysis data of this research is refers to the steps of the qualitative data.

The results showed that (1) the extrovert student thinking process in solving the problem of linear equations one variable only through 3 items of Polya problem in understanding the problem through 4 item; in devising a plan through 3 item; carrying out the plan through 3 item; but they loss in looking back; and (2) the extrovert students thinking process in solve the problem of linear equations one variable facing 4 step completely such as understanding the problem through 4 item; in devising a plan through 3 item; carrying out the plan through 3 item; in looking back
