Abstract

This research aims to investigate critical thinking in posing mathematical problem based on self-efficacy. To achieve these objectives the researchers use criteria of critical thinking is FRISCO (Focus, Reason, Inference, Situation, Clarity, Overview) and the stages of the problem posing of understanding information, planning, formulating problems, and re-evaluation. This research is a descriptive qualitative approach. Subjects consisted of two students with high and low self-efficacy based on the analysis of questionnaires the self-efficacy test. The data collection technique is task-based interviews to obtain data on student critical thinking in posing mathematical problem. The results of this research indicate that students' critical thinking in the posing mathematical problems with high and low self-efficacy is not much different, the stages problem posing all passed although there are some criteria of critical thinking passed. Therefore, the results of this study should be used by the teacher as a view in designing the lesson with attention to student self-efficacy.
