Worksheet of Investigation Based Multiple Representation (IBMR) to Improving Representation Skills of Magnetic Field Concepts

Abstract


One of the most difficullt concepts to undestand in physics is the magnetic field. The results of previous research indicate that multi representation can help students understand the concept in depth. Multiple representations can also assess conceptual understanding. Through this research, designed worksheets of IBMR that can help students present the concept of a magnetic field with various modes of representation. Therefore, the main purpose of this research is to improve the representation skills of the magnetic field concept with worksheet IBMR. Through the worksheet, students practice representing the concept of magnetic field with several representational modes, such as verbal, drawing, and math from the results of scientific investigations. Tests were conducted on basic physics learning using a pretest-posttest one group design. Students are given multiple representation skills tests before and after learning by using worksheet of IBMR. The result of the research shows that students experience improvement of representation skills. Students are able to present the concept of magnetic field with several representation modes which indicate that mastery of student concept has increased
