Abstract


Many educators are interested in teaching critical thinking skills to the students. Critical thinking is important in modern education to learn natural science. Critical thinking requires the interpretation and evaluation of an observation, communication and other sources of information. It’s also requires the ability in making assumptions, create a relationship, and in taking the conclusion. The purpose of this study is to see the effectiveness of guided inquiry learning strategies for training critical thinking skills of junior high school students. The Data obtained through questionnaire and critical thinking skills test. The results of the study showed that there was a difference in critical thinking skills students before and after implementing the lesson using the guided inquiry strategies. Based on these results, could be concluded that the guided inquiry strategies can used to train critical thinking skills of junior high school students.
