Abstract


Critical thinking skills are the ability to use cognitive strategies that require higher thinking patterns in more complex problem solving. Critical problem solving can be  integrated with the Problem Based Learning model. The PBL model is a student's learning approach to the authentic problem and the meaning of a problem so that students can build their own knowledge, develop higher skills and inquiry which can improve students' self-confidence. The objective on this research is to know effectiveness problem based learning model in facilitating the student’s critical thinking skills in work and energy materials that has been tested on a group pretest-posttest design trial development research of  10th grade students of  Bilingual Senior  High School of  Krian Sidoarjo, academic year 2016/2017. Methods of data collection is test and questionnaire. while data analysis techniques using descriptive analysis qualitative and quantitative. The test results show some findings that the student’s critical thinking skills after having test are generally effective and student response to learning is very positive. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that Problem Based Learning model learning materials developed is effective in facilitating the student’s critical thinking skills of senior high school.
