Improving Students’ Concept Understanding Using Learning Cycle 7E Model with Initial Letter Technique

Abstract


This research is motivated by junior high school student’s lack ability in understanding abstract science concept and memorizing. This research is aimed to improve students’ science concept understanding on junior high school students through learning cycle 7E learning model with initial letter. This research was tried out to 35 students of grade VIII of junior high school with Pre-Experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Data analysis used in this research was quantitative descriptive analysis. The results show that there is an improvement of students’ concept understanding which is indicated from N-gain value that is 0.82 with high category. Besides that, students give positive response towards learning activities by using learning cycle 7E model with initial letter technique. According to the results, it is concluded that initial letter can improve junior high school students’ concept understanding.
