Developing assessment instruments of science process skills in primary school

Abstract


Abstract. Science process skills (SPS) is very important for students to acquire and organize the knowledge of self and the environment, but in fact SPS is not yet a concern in the primary school learning. This research aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective assessment instrument to measure student’s SPS. Assessment instruments include  student’s worksheet and test. This research is a development research using one group pretest-postest design. Data in this study include validity, practicality, and the effectivity of the instruments which are obtained with validation, observation, and test method. Research results show that the validity of assessment instruments is very valid, the reliability is categorized reliable, student’s SPS activities is high, and there is significance improvement on student’s SPS score. It can be concluded that assessment instruments of SPS are valid, practical, and effective to be used to measure student’s SPS result.
