Abstract

The study of relational thinking became one of the interesting issues in mathematics education. One aim of this study is to see how high school students use relational thinking in solving the problems of math (statistics) that associated with the process of statistical thinking, in this study the stages of this statistical process begins from Data Collection, Data Presentation, Data analyzing and the end of the stages was Conclusion of the data processing. This explorative descriptive research is a research that seeks to explored and described the Relational thinking Process of High School thinking when using it in solving math problems, especially on the subject of statistics. This study reveals the involvement of the relational thinking component brought by Zhe Chen et al. (2016) from the University of California (Davis), which consists of Encoding, Mapping, and Generalizing, as students complete math problems. The result of the research is the Profile of the relational thinking of high school students in solving the mathematical problem on the subject of statistics

Key words: Relational Thinking, StatisticThinking, Encoding, Mapping, Generalizing.
