Abstract

This study aims to produce a natural sciences learning materials using Numbered Head Together type cooperative model with SPICES Continuing approach to trained students critical thinking skills. The learning tool was developed using a 4D model with a one group pre test-post design that was tested on 50 grade VII students of Junior High School to measure the implementation of the lesson plan, student activities, constraints during the learning implementation, students critical thinking skills, and response students on learning tools developed. The findings of the research result are: (1) Validity of learning tools covering syllabus, lesson plan, student instruction materials, student worksheet, assessment sheet, declared valid; (2) The practicality of instructional tools is derived: (a) The implementation of the lesson plan is very good, (b) student activities, and (c) obstacles during the learning implementation; and (3) The effectiveness of instructional tools is evaluated: (a) Students' critical thinking skills with high category n-gain, and (b) student's response to learning tools and excellent learning. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the learning material natural sciences Numbered Head Together type cooperative model with SPICES Continuing approach developed feasible to train critical thinking skills of junior high school students.
