Facilitating Creative Thinking Skills through Learning Material Project Based Inquiry Science for Middle School Students

Abstract


The aim of this research was to describe feasibility the learning material based on Project Based Inquiry Science (PBIS) for middle school students. It measured consists of validity, practicality and effectiveness to facilitate the students’ creative thinking skills. The Instructional design used to develop learning material PBIS was derived from 4-D model. The validity of learning material PBIS was assessed from four aspects, namely content, presentation, language and graphics aspect. The research instrument using observation sheet, questionnaires and tests to obtain data from the experts, teacher and students. This research using one group pretest posttest design to obtain practicality and effectiveness from the learning material PBIS. Results of research showed that the learning material PBIS were good validity categorized from all aspect. It is also good practical and effectiveness to facilitate creative thinking skills students. It is seen from the result of t-test (2-tailed) has been obtained difference between the pretest and posttest average score was statistically significant. Level of students’ creativity this research taken from N-gain score category with medium. The study could be concluded that the learning material based on Project-Based Inquiry Science were feasible to facilitate students’ creative thinking skills.
