Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the profile of metacognitive and understanding concept of high school students in abstract materials especially dynamics electricity material. The data study involved 35 high school students in Bandar Lampung. Methods of data collection using paper and pencil test. Metacognition ability data obtained written test consisting of 3 questions metacognisi knowledge, 4 metacognition skills and understanding concept obtained written test consisting of 6 questions. The data were analyzed descriptively that analyzed each item to see the form the ablity of metacognitive and understanding concept of students used in problem solving of physics. The result of the research shows that students metacognition knowledge is dominanted by declarative  knowledge than conditional  and procedural, while student’s metacognition skills dominant in planning. Predictive, monitoring, and  evaluation skills are still relatively low. Student’s ablity of metacognitive to solve physics problems is categorized as low.  So understanding concept of students to solve physics problems is categorized as low, and student’s understanding concept dominant in interpret, these was a relationship between the ablity of metacognitive and understanding concept of students.
