Abstract


Abstract: Representational representational gesture is a gesture or body language done by the students in mengungakapkan ideas in the process of thinking. The focus of this paper is to discuss the role of representational gesture of students in understanding the basic concepts of fractions. From the results of observation on the students of each learning often involves gestures in showing his disagreement on a mathematical concept. Gestur is done because it has an important role in cognition can be said also Gestur is part of the communication used to learn better. The representational Gestures include the iconic gestures and metaphoric gestures the reason that this gesture has the aspect of description and representation of the real object or object that the student is thinking of on the fractional concept
