An Analysis of the Influence of Scientific Thinking Skills on Learning Outcomes as a Basis for Selecting the Learning Model: On the Application of Creative Problem Solving Model with Scaffolding

Abstract


The scientific thinking skills is the basic ability that students must have in solving problems. The aim of this paper is to analysis whether the influence of scientific thinking skill on learning outcomes as the basis for selecting the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model with Scaffolding. CPS model with scaffolding is a learning model that accommodates scaffolding aspect into CPS step. This is a quantitative research with experimental methods. The subjects of this research are class XI in 3 schools that are SMAN 3 Ponorogo, SMAN 1 Sewon and SMAN 8 Surakarta. The research involved 79 students. The data is taken by doing the test of scientific thinking skill with the instrument which is based on 4 aspects of scientific thinking skill according to Kuhn (2010). Data was analyzed by using SPSS 21 with regression test. Based on the result of analysis, the value of R 0,371 with anova significance level is 0,001, which means there is influence of scientific thinking skill to learning outcomes.
