THE DEVELOPMENT OF BIOLOGY COMIC EDUCATION ANDÂ COMPARE AND CONTRAST LEARNING METODE TO INCREASE STUDENTS LITERACY OF 10 GRADE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

ABSTRACT
Literation in the biology subject is not only reading activity but also include for several activity like identification, determinant, and communication of information for overcome in life problem. Furthermore, in the biology subject especially in virus chapter is one of the difficult chapter cause of abstract and complexity content. This research aims to produce a feasible biology comic education to increase student literacy of Senior high school student. Development of this biology comic education refers to 4D Model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). It was used research method one group pretest-posttest design. This method which is begin with development of biology comic education and pretest about student literacy, secondly comic education applied in normal class in ten grade junior high school student with four step syntax in compare and contrast learning method, and thirdly posttest about student literacy using paper test. The data of the research were collected through validation, questioner, and pretest-posttest instruments. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative statistic technique. The result of this research reveals that: (1) the biology comic education that developed in valid categorizes, (2) learning literacy categorized increase; and (3) the student responded positively towards learning. These results indicate that biology comic education which has been developed feasible used to improve student’s literacy. The biology comic education can be used as a reference or alternative learning resources in the learning in the school using compare and contrast learning method.
