Abstract
Thermochemistry is one of materials that had low student’s understanding ability on National Examination at 2013-2015 which only get 55.45%. This low percentage because of student still has misconception. Misconception can caused student low ability to understand a concept. This misconception should be reduced, one of the way to reduced is using appropriate learning strategy with material and the problem that faced by student and one of them is predict-observe-explain(POE) strategy. The aim of this research is to know the effectivity of learning process using POE strategy in reduce misconception.This research was using One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample is 33 students of XI MIA 4 at senior high school Kemala Bhayangkari 3. To know student conception this research using three tier diagnostic test for prestest and posttest. Pretest was conduct after student has conventional learning process with their teacher. Posttest was conduct after student had given a treatment using POE strategy. Figure 1 show the result of pretest and posttest. Piicture in the left one is student’s conception on each concept before treatment and the right one is student’s conception on each concept after treatment using POE strategy.

Based on Figure 1 showed that student on XI MIA 4 had misconception on all of concept and the average percentage is 57,73%. After that treatment using POE strategy had been done and the result is student’s misconception status are decrease. On all of concept student showed that they know the concept. The average student’s conception status of known the concept is 93,03 and left only 5,45% student that still has misconception. After that the data also analyze statistically using wilcoxon’s signed rank test to know the influence of POE strategy on student’s conception. and give the result on the Table 1 below.

Based on Table 1 we know that sig. (2-tailed) value is 0,000, this value is less than 0,05. It means that there is changing of misconception status on all of student in XI MIA 4. So we can conclude that POE strategy effective to reduce misconception that experienced by student.
