Abstract

Indonesian National Education aim is to direct citizens and country to improve their skills and character or better attitude in order to become citizens who are noble, have knowledge and skills, and have a strong and independent personality. A curriculum needs to be created in order to support the achievement of this goal. The current curriculum 2013, has tried to accentuate the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are all in line with the objectives of Indonesian National Education. This accentuate on three types of learning namely project-based, problem-based, and discovery learning to promote more skilful people. However, in some cases it is a problem because it does not provide sufficient time allocation for the development of knowledge and skills. The problem lies in the assessment. This assessment separates 3 aspects including assessment of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. It seems to forget that in this type of learning, students have to integrate those aspects to accomplish a project and solve the problems. Partial assessment makes those types of learning impossible. Therefore, an authentic and holistic alternative assessment for vocational high school students is developed to improve students  progress as a whole.
