Abstract

Increasing global energy demands have increased the need for alternative fuel sources. Biofuel is one type of alternative energy that could be produced by a plant; one of the examples is Jatropha Curcas. The main obstacle in the growth of Jatropha Curcas is plant disease. Various methods have been developed to surmount this plant disease, but the success heavily depends on the level of awareness and prevention programs from related parties. In this presentation, the effects of nutrition intervention on Jatropha Curcas and insecticide to kill pests will be focused. The mathematical model of mosaic disease in Jatropha Curcas will be analyzed whose use depends on the level of population awareness. There are two things related to awareness in this model: global awareness campaigns, and awareness from observing infected plants. There are two equilibria shown by this model: disease-free equilibria and endemic equilibria. The results would be demonstrated by several numerical simulations to support the analysis that had been done.
