An Effort in Teaching Invertebrates and Training Digital Literacy to The Students of High School Grade 10 Using Electronic Book

Abstract


The research purposes were analyze the influence of electronic book Invertebrate on students digital literacy and learning outcomes, as well as describe student responses upon learning process using electronic Invertebrate book. The research method was quasi experiment with the matching-only pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample which selected using purposive sampling. Both of experiment and control classes consisted of 30 students. The influence of electronic book on students digital literacy and learning outcomes were analyzed using normalized gain scores (g), wilcoxon test, and mann-whitney test. Meanwhile, the student’s responses were analyzed descriptive-quantitatively. The result revealed that about 57% of students completed the digital literacy test and 100% of them enhanced in the category of medium to high on digital literacy skills. Meanwhile, 80% of students completed the cognitive competency and 100% of them enhanced in the category of medium to high on learning outcomes. The students also positively responded the learning process using electronic Invertebrate book and application of  digital literacy with the percentage of 97.4%. It can be conluded that the learning using electronic Invertebrate book influence the student’s digital literacy skills and the student’s learning outcomes. Digital literacy skills can be trained during the learning process.
