The Importance of Data Literacy Competence for Vocational High School Students in the INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION ERA 4.0

Abstract


The low level of data literacy competency for vocational students in Indonesia is influenced by many interrelated factors. The lack of student interest in finding information and analyzing the data obtained is one of the main causes. This study aims to (1) analyze the needs that must be prepared by teachers and students in the face of the era of industrial revolution 4.0 and (2) analyze the benefits of data literacy competencies for vocational students to face the era of industrial revolution 4.0. This study is a literature study that uses data or research results from various relevant sources to be used as research data. The data analysis technique in this study is descriptive-qualitative. The results of this study indicate that (1) teachers need to provide data literacy education and training in order to improve student competence in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0; and (2) the benefits of having data literacy competencies for students, namely students are easy to analyze, solve problems, and can improve critical thinking skills, where all these abilities are needed in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0.
