Abstract

The preliminary study found that in grade VIII students of SMP N 1 Sukodadi in Lamongan experienced misconceptions on static fluid materials with the topic of pressure on liquids. The subject of this research is the students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Sukodadi as many as 20 people. This research uses one group pretest-posttest design design. Data collection for this research use observation and test method. Misconception is identified using Certainty of Response Index (CRI). In pretest analysis data is used to identify student misconception on the tested material, while in the final test (posttest) is used to know the concept shift experienced by students after learning with cognitive conflict strategy. The conclusion is that learning using the cognitive conflict strategy approach helps in reducing misconceptions experienced by students on static fluid materials.
