Abstract

Fermetoge was fermentation feed for ruminant that made of water hyacinth and corn cob. The research  aim to know the palatability of fermetoge that was given to goat. Palatability is the measure of intake of a food that indicates acceptance or the measure of preference of one food over another. There  were four kinds of fementation feed (RI, RII, RIII and RIV).  The parameters of the level of goat palatability for feed were carried out using the cafeteria feeding method using a goat with a weight of about 30 kg. In this palatability test each goat was given  2 kg of 4 kinds of feed simultaneously in the morning and  afternoon. Thus each goat at meal time is free to choose the favored feed from the four feed were given. Each feed was counted that was eat or was consumed by per goat per day. Then the selection index calculation is done by dividing the amount of feed that was consumed by the total amount of feed that given per day. The palatability test is carried out just a day with 5 repetitions. Palatability of the best feed is RIII that composed of 20% fermented feed.
