Abstract

The teaching of mathematical literacy in secondary school were cannot be ignored. Therefore, possessing good mathematical literacy is important for prospective mathematics teachers so that they can teach better these abilities to their students. Unnfortunately, until now there were not a suitable  test for measuring the prospective mathematics teacher’s possession of mathematical literacy. This research aims to describe the development, validation and testing from 6th semester students at three universities to obtain a valid and reliable mathematical literacy test. This test consists of 4 themes, each of them contains two or three questions designed to measure the ability to formulate a mathematical situation, the ability to use facts, concepts, procedures and mathematical reasoning or the ability to interpret and evaluate mathematical solutions. The measuring validity includes construct validity through expert judgment and empirical validity through the testing. The testing at the first university were used for the test readability test. The testing at the second university were used to obtain the ideal time to complete the test, while the testing at the third university was used to test the empirical validity and reliability. Based on the results of this study, we recommend this test to be used in measuring  the content of knowledge of prospective mathematics teachers to be able to see the level of readiness of prospective mathematics teachers in integrating teaching mathematical literacy through mathematics learning in the future
