Student Response in Solving Waste Problems in the Biology Department On Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Course

Abstract


Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is a compulsory course for all students in the faculties of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The learning achievement of this course is that students are able to solve problems in the community in an effort to apply the knowledge of conservation of natural resources and the environment. The purpose of the research is that students are able to solve the waste problem in the Biology department. The problem solving is by choosing a zero waste option on the Biology Department. The choices are (a) No oil paper, no plastic bag, no straws, no styrofoam, no napkins or (b) No oil paper, no paper food packaging, no styrofoam, no plastic, and no napkins . The research method used is descriptive. The target of the study is Biology Department  students who program the courses of Conservation of Natural Resources and the Environment in the even semester 2018-2019. The number of students is 140 people. The results of the study were 94% of students chose the choice (a). The conclusion of this study is that students still need plastic in their daily lives on campus, such as plastic bottles and glasses.
