Abstract

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a training method that combine a type of exercise with high-intensity, low-intensity, or medium intensity at certain intervals. This training methods can improve performance enhancement including aerobic and anaerobic capacity. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of  HIIT at Aerobic Capasity of athletes. The type of research was quantitative with using Non-Randomized Control Groups Pretest-Posttest Design. This study was conducted at 30 males sub elite volleyball athletes with mean age ± 20.5 years old. The subject was divided into 2 groups with 15 athletes each group.  Group 1 was given treatment HIIT with medium intensity using Squirm, 40-Yard Sprint, 40-Yard Lateral Shuffle, 20-Yard Square, 10-Cone Snake Drill, V-Drill three times a week during six weeks period; Group 2 was given convensional training. Data was taken from pretest posttest using a 20m shuttle run test. The result of this study found that there was a significant effect of HIIT in enhancing aerobic capasity of athletes with p <0.05. It can be concluded that HIIT can be used to enhance aerobic capacity of volleyball athletes.
