Abstract

Momentum and impulses are one difficult concept in physics learning. This study aims to understand the impact of Modeling Instruction with web-based formative feedback on the understanding of the concept of momentum and impulse. The research used mix method with embedded experimental design.  A total of 10 multiple choice questions with reason are grounded in pretest and posttest in 35 students. The results show that the N-gain value is 0.58 with the high medium criterion and the d-effect size value is 2.34 with bigger than standard category. This proves that learning with web-based formative feedback on Modeling Instruction gives a big impact on the understanding of the concept of momentum and impulse. Nevertheless, still found some difficulties experienced by students after the learning is in analyzing the concept of force and law of conservation of momentum on the situation of new physics and in the form of descriptive.
